PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for information retrieval which realize retrieval taking account of human characteristics as a group of people and human sensitivity by utilizing a network. SOLUTION: At least one server 11, 12, or 13 having a database corresponding to a specific retrieval item accumulated and an information terminal 16 which can access the server 11, 12, or 13 are connected together through a network 15, and the database has characters symbolizing the human characteristics and information linked with the characters. The characters classified by the human characteristics therefore become retrieval subjects and their link information can easily be retrieved.
