PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the failure in the adequate operation of a DVD video player in the case of the final reproduction state memory function (PPM memory function) of the conventional CDs. for recording of the final reproduction position, etc., of the player because all parts are switched off at a time when a power source of the player is switched off from the main. SOLUTION: The present reproduction position data is read in from the VOBU management data in the DVD video data obtained from a DVD video processor 6 and is written into a reproduction position memory selected by a memory selecting means 28. When the end thereof is detected by a writing end detecting section 30, the symbols, etc., corresponding to the presently written memory are stored into a final writing reproduction position memory 24 and the memory selecting section 28 is switched to an opposite side and thereafter the similar operation is continued. When the power source is turned on again after the off of the power source, the data of the final writing reproduction position memory 24 is read and the memory selecting means 28 is switched to this memory side and the reproduction position data is read therefrom and the reproduction is started from this reproduction position.
