PURPOSE: A passenger compartment heating system is provided, in which heat recovery pipe is incorporated into the muffler disposed in the internal combustion engine so as to directly recover the waste heat emitted from the internal combustion engine, to thereby achieve an improved heating efficiency and simplified configuration of heating system. CONSTITUTION: An intake manifold(2) and an exhaust manifold(3) are connected to an automobile engine(1), and a heat recovery pipe(4) is arranged to an internal exhaust chamber(3a) of the exhaust manifold, in such a manner that an inlet port(6) and an outlet port(7) of the heat recovery pipe are sealed. The heat recovery pipe is connected to the passenger compartment air circulation line, and a blower fan(5) circulates air so as to perform passenger compartment heating operation.
