The coating, applied to one or more surfaces of containers and equipment, is in the form of a thermoplastic mastic containing a mixture of mineral salts and oxides and organic metal salts. In a first phase a saline bath is made from metal salts, e.g. of Pb, Ca, Ba, B and Ag. An organo-metallic filler is added, made e.g. from soaps, oleates, stearates, laurates, palmitates, naphthenates, resinates, colophonates and abietates of metals, followed by organic metal salts to act as dispersing, plasticizing and regulating agents. The coating can be applied by trowel or pressure spray, or it can be made into ready-to-use tiles or bricks or appropriate shape.
