PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a music retrieval system which can retrieve the name of music according to its text, part of its melody, and other music information even when the name, singer, etc., of the music are unknown. SOLUTION: A music retrieval system A has a host computer 1 which records music data and a portable telephone 3 which sends and receives information to and from the host computer 1. The portable telephone 3 has a communication device which communicates with the host computer 1, an indication input device which gives a retrieval indication to the host computer 1, and e.g. a liquid- crystal display device which displays information from the host computer 1. A retrieval item of music is inputted to the portable telephone 3 and sent to the host computer 1, which retrieves music data according to the information and sends a retrieval result to the portable telephone 3, so that the retrieval result is displayed. |
