<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly bring a battery toward on appropriate charged state without overcharging, when an internal combustion engine is started. SOLUTION: When discharging current to an electrical load 44 is increased, for example, when the internal combustion engine 1 is started, the charging voltage of a generator 10 is set unconditionally to a higher voltage, based on a regulated voltage Vreg. Thereafter, the battery voltage is monitored, and when it reaches a preset upper limit during a preset duration or falls below a preset lower limit during maximum duration, the regulated voltage Vreg is changed, and the charging voltage of the generator 10 is switches from a high voltage to a low voltage. Thus the charging voltage of the generator 10 is set appropriately according to the charged state of the battery 6, at and after start of the internal combustion engine 1, and the battery 6 is maintained in appropriate charged state without being overcharged.</p> |
