PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording method by which high birefringence can be obtained when information is recorded, the thickness of an optical recording layer can be made thin and errors when information is read out can be reduced and to provide an optical recording medium to be used in this method and an optical recording device. SOLUTION: This optical recording method comprises a step to control the polarization angle of the recording light emitted from a light source, a step to irradiate the optical recording medium with the recording light and a step to leave the recording medium as it is by cutting off the recording light. Such an optical recording medium is used, as has a high polymer film having a photoisomerizing group in the molecule or containing a photoisomerizing molecule. This optical recording medium is irradiated with the recording light to form a λ/4 wavelength plate or a λ/2 wavelength plate in the direction corresponding to the polarization angle in the optical recording medium. The temperature of the high polymer film is controlled in at least one step of the step to irradiate the optical recording medium with the recording light and the step to leave the recording medium as it is. |
