PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a electronic equipment capable of performing quick running of a stepping motor at a high speed with a low electric power consumption, and a control method therefor. SOLUTION: A connecting circuit 76 capable of short-circuiting and opening a detecting coil 71 wound coaxially with a driving coil 11 is controlled by a detecting coil control circuit 76, and while supplying a driving pulse for the quick running to the driving coil 11, the detecting coil 71 is opened. When supplying the driving pulse for the quick running, the driving coil 11 is opened by controlling a driving circuit 30 by a driving control circuit 25, and inverse induced voltage generated in the detecting coil 71 by short-circuting the detecting coil 71 is detected by a position detecting circuit 77 to confirm a position of a rotor 13. A chance of the driving coil 11 and the detecting coil 71 for acting as an electromagnetic brake is minimized, and the quick traverse can be performed with low electric power consumption. Since the stepping motor can be moved at a high speed while confirming the position of the rotor 13, the quick running can be stably performed. |
