PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material excellent in sensitivity, fogging and maximum density, excellent in image preservability when irradiated with light and suppressed in desensitization due to storage at a high temperature before processing. SOLUTION: In the heat developable photosensitive material containing at least one photosensitive silver halide emulsion, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder on one face of the base, the average equivalent circular diameter of the photosensitive silver halide emulsion is 10-50 nm and the emulsion has been spectrally sensitized with a sensitizing dye of formula (1) [where Z1 is a group of atoms required to form a 5- or 6-membered N-containing heterocycle; each of D and D' is a group of atoms required to form an acyclic or cyclic acidic nucleust R1 is alkyl; each of L1-L10 is methinet each of n1-n5 is 0 or 1; M1 is a counter ion which neutralizes an electric charge and m1 is a number of >=0].
