PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a piezoelectric element wherein impedance is low, electro- mechanical coupling coefficient is large and low loss characteristics at high frequency is ensured, when piezoelectric ceramics having a laminar perovskite structure is used. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric element 10 includes the piezoelectric ceramics 12, having a laminar perovskite structure and has a C axis, which is selectively oriented in the thickness direction. A plurality of linear electrodes 14 orthogonally oriented C axis are formed in the piezoelectric ceramics 12, and the electrodes 14 exposed to both end surfaces of the piezoelectric ceramics 12 are covered with conducting members 18 and insulating members 20. The piezoelectric ceramics 12 is polarized in the lengthwise direction so as to face in mutually reverse direction, on both sides of the electrodes 14 aligned in the widthwise direction. External electrodes are formed on a surface, on which the conducting members 18 and the insulating members 20 are formed, and two groups of electrodes which are arranged in an interdigital electrodes type are formed. |
