PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for an alkaline battery in which the battery can be stably manufactured in a thin type and can cope with a high capacity, and in which the yield is superior. SOLUTION: This separator is equipped with a fiber sheet containing high- melting point polypropylene whose melting point is not less than 166 deg.C and ultra thin polypropylene based fibers in which the fiber diameter is not more than 5μm. When the separator produces battery (electrode plate group configuration), since preventions are made so that burr of an electrode plate does not go through the separator to cause a short-circuit, or is cut off by the electrode plate to cause a short-circuit, the yield is superior and the battery can be stably manufacture. In addition, since the ultra thin polypropylene based fibers in which the fiber diameter is not more than 5μm, it is possible to obtain a thin separator and to contribute to the high capacity of the battery. |
