<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for a planar display device in which the face in the light transmitting substrate side and the face in the light shielding film side can be easily judged and to provide a planar display device having the substrate. SOLUTION: A light shielding film 58 is formed on a glass substrate 56. The light shielding film is formed by depositing a metal film 72 on one surface of the glass substrate to substantially shield visible rays, a first metal oxide film formed between the glass substrate and the metal film, and a second metal oxide film formed on the metal film. The first and second metal oxide films are formed in such a manner that the wavelength R1 in the visible ray region at the minimum reflectance of the first metal oxide film and the wavelength R2 in the visible ray region at the minimum reflectance of the second metal oxide film satisfy the relation of R1≠R2.</p> |
