PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium and a magnetic storage device capable of simultaneously enhancing SNR, overwriting characteristics and thermal stability. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium provided with a substrate and a magnetic layer provided on the upper side of the substrate, the magnetic layer consists of an initial layer provided on the side near to the substrate and a final layer provided on the side far from the substrate and saturation magnetization MSa of the initial layer, saturation magnetization MSb of the final layer and saturation magnetization MStot of the total magnetic layer are specified to satisfy the relational formula MSa<MStot<MSb or MSa>MStot>MSb. |
