PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque detection device, having a structure of mounting a sleeve on a shaft whose torque is to be detected, capable of preventing slide of the sleeve relative to the shaft. SOLUTION: This device comprises the sleeve 4, having magnetostrictive material patterns 5a and 5b formed by inclining plural belt-shaped magnetostrictive materials an the circumference with respect to the axis, a torque transmission shaft 1 intermitted with the sleeve 4 and having an irregularity part 3 on the circumference, and a detection coil fitted from the outside on a torque detecting part of the sleeve 4. A hollow part 2 is formed in the torque transmission shaft 1, and the torque transmission shaft 1 is coupled elastically with the sleeve 4, by enlarging the inner diameter of the torque transmission shaft 1 with the hollow part 2.
