The bicycle has a chain (18) extending between a pedal sprocket (26) and a rear sprocket (22) and a return pulley (30) having two flanges (34a,b) defining a groove (32). The inner faces of the flanges are spaced radially from each other. The width of the pulley groove is less than the thickness of the complete rear sprocket assembly on the rear wheel.
