PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video and audio coding method that can provide an efficient coding environment when video and audio data are simultaneously coded. SOLUTION: A video and audio coder is provided with a video coding processing section 5 that conducts video coding processing to code received video data and to output video coded data, a voice coding processing section 6 that conducts audio coding processing to code received audio data and to output audio coded data, and a discrimination section 7 that discriminates a state of a load of the video coding processing and changes a load quantity of the audio coding processing in the voice coding processing section 6 depending on the discriminated load state of the video coding processing. The discrimination section 7 decreases the load quantity of the voice coding processing in the voice coding processing section in a manner that the heavier the discriminated load state of the video coding processing indicates, the more the load quantity of the voice coding processing in the video coding processing section is decreased. |
