PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the reliable focusing of an object even in photographing by a macro mode and to enable a high-speed and highly precise auto focus(AF) by making settable control parameters necessary for a focusing operation by a mountain climbing contrast AF based on a focusing result by an external light AF. SOLUTION: The ranging finder has an imaging device 2 which picks up an object image-formed through a photographing optical system 1 and outputs a picture signal, a passive ranging part 14 which measures a distance to the object by external light ranging, an AF evaluation value calculation part 21 for performing the mountain climbing contrast AF which moves the focus of the photographing optical system 1 so that a prescribed value showing the contrast of the picture signal outputted from the imaging element 2 is maximized, and a COU13 controlled so as to set control parameters and an operation mode when performing the mountain climbing contrast AF by the AF evaluation value calculation part 21 based on information acquired by the ranging operation of the passive ranging part 14. Thereby, the focusing to the object can be performed securely and a high-speed and highly precise AF is performed even when photographing in the macro mode. |
