PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite covered elastic yarn not causing the phenomenon of exposure of core yarn and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This bulky conjugate elastic yarn Z has a yarn structure obtained by coating the circumference of an elastic yarn 1 of a core yarn with a multifilament false twist yarn 2 in a substantially twistless manner to constitute a false twist covered elastic yarn Y of twistless covered structure and further substantially interlacing the circumference of the false twist covered elastic yarn Y with a filament yarn or a stable fiber yarn X. The elastic yarn is arranged in parallel with the multifilament yarn and subjected to false twisting to produce the false twist covered elastic yarn and the circumference of the false twist coated elastic yarn is subjected to interlacing treatment with the filament yarn or the stable fiber yarn to give the objective composite covered elastic yarn.
