PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the work for filling up a recessed joint part of a steel diaphragm wall member with a filler to inhibit the entry of earth and sand, and soil cement into the joint part, enable the filler to be repeatedly used, and prevent the filler from uplifting under the influence of buoyancy in the case of the construction of the steel diaphragm wall. SOLUTION: A filling bar member 9 serving as the filler for the recessed joint part 8a of the steel diaphragm wall member 8 is composed of a bar-like body 9a having the thickness allowing the body 9a to be inserted into the joint part 8a and an overhanging part 9b connected or attached integrally to the upper end part of the body 9a and engaged to the upper end of the joint part 8a. The floating-up of the bar member 9 is prevented by a binding tool 11 composed of a supporting member 12 positioned on the opened side of the joint part 8a, a holding member 13 capable of holding the joint part 8a, and a pushing bolt 14 screwed into the supporting member 2 and abutting against the bar member 9.
