PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize memory resources and to accelerate method retrieval. SOLUTION: Concerning a method to be inherited between a plurality of classes having a set hierarchical relation and a method overriding that method, a method table stores method information containing the leading address of a storage area of each of methods. Each piece of method information is linked along the hierarchical relation between the belonging classes of each of methods. When retrieving the storage place of a method called corresponding to the message of method calling, search of the method table is conducted by using the class designated by the message as a key. When the method designated by this retrieval cannot be retrieved, on the basis of setting in the class table, retrieval is performed by using the super class of the designated class as a key.
