The invention relates to a glass ceramic material that is especially useful as a resistor (5) or a gas-tight glass ceramic solder (9) in a spark plug (1). The glass ceramic material is an inclusion of a starting glass that is fused from a starting mixture containing SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2 and CaO. The fused material has furthermore at least partially crystalline phases. The invention further relates to a method for producing such a glass ceramic material, according to which the starting glass is processed to a starting material in a first process step. Said starting material is then heated in a second process step over a first period from a starting temperature that is below the softening temperature (Tg) of the starting glass to a melting temperature that is above the softening temperature (Tg) of the starting glass, it is maintained over a second period, and is then cooled off. The invention further relates to a spark plug with a connection pin (3) and a center electrode (6) that are electrically interconnected via a resistor (5), said resistor at least partially consisting of the inventive glass ceramic material.
