PURPOSE: A WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) system and an operating method thereof are provided to offer convenience to a user using an Internet service with the WLAN by performing stably the user authentication and the accounting. CONSTITUTION: A user terminal(60) comprising a WLAN card stores a specific ID(identification) for authenticating the user's Internet connection and transmits the specific ID to an access point(70). An access point(AP) manager(80) controls the assignment of communication channels and IPs(Internet protocol) for the access point(70), and transmits the specific ID from the user terminal(60) to a network provider's server(90). An access point(70) connects between the user terminal(60) and the AP manager(80), and relays the Internet connection of the user terminal(60) under the control of the AP manager(80). By storing a specific ID of the WLAN card, a user ID and a password, which are previously registered, into an internal memory and comparing with the specific ID, the user ID and the password transmitted from the user terminal(60) via the AP manager(80), the network provider's server(90) performs the connection authentication processing for the user.
