A device for preventing the occurrence of aquaplaning on vehicles in wet weather has a unit for dispersing the water film present on the road(4). An air jet(7,12) is directed onto the water film in front of the respective wheels with regard to the direction of travel. The air leaves the air jets under an overpressure and is made available from a compressor(14). Air inlet openings are provided at the front of the vehicle and have a relatively large cross section. A fan may transport the air to the jets.
