<p>An antifouling coating composition which has excellent film strength and significantly high antifouling properties; and a novel resin useful as a matrix resin for the composition. The antifouling coating composition comprises: (A) a vinyl polymer having as repeating units a structural unit (a) represented by the formula (1) [wherein X1 and X2 each independently represents an ester bond or carbonyl; R1 represents an ethylene structure in which the same or adjacent carbon atoms form covalent bonds together with the carbonyl carbon atom in the formula (1) and with X1; R2 represents gem-alkylene, vic-alkylene, arylmethylidene, or arylethylene; and R3 and R4 each represents alkyl, aryl, or a hydrocarbon group having carbonyl, an ether bond, or an ester bond]; and (B) an antifouling agent.</p> |
