PURPOSE: A system and method is provided to achieve improved user convenience by allowing general users to utilize voice communication service over Internet through a general telephone set without adding equipment to modems. CONSTITUTION: A system comprises a personal computer(11) and a general telephone set(12) for transmitting voice communication call input through Internet to the user; a cable modem or high speed Internet connection equipment(13) for connecting the voice communication call from the PC or general telephone set to Internet so as to set a voice communication path; and a telephone connection unit(20) for distributing the voice communication call input from the cable modem or high speed Internet connection equipment to the PC or general telephone set, sensing the signal received at the PC or general telephone set in a preferential manner, and setting the voice communication path to the PC or general telephone set which receives the signal in a preferential manner so as to provide a voice communication service through the set voice communication path. A method comprises a first step of interconnecting a general telephone set to a terminal for Internet phone service in such a manner that the selective receipt of Internet phone or general phone through Internet is permitted; a second step of distributing call signals input through Internet to the terminal and telephone set, and setting a voice communication path to the preferential receiving party; and a third step of providing voice communication service through the set voice communication path.
