A transformer (T1) connected to a power source (AC), which consists of a primary coil (16 and 18), a secondary coil and a magnetic core, the secondary coil being configured to provide a regulated DC output (12) voltage and/or current. The primary coil contains two portions, one portion being used to operate the transformer as a low voltage input (16) converter and both portion being used when the transformer is used as a high voltage input (18) converter.
