PURPOSE: To provide a method and a system for managing point, a central unit and a recording medium for reducing losses caused by expiration or the like of valuable points imparted to a client as a privilege in respect to a consumption activities and improving the utilization frequency of an online service. CONSTITUTION: A client terminal 20 managed by the client transmits exchange instruction information instructing the exchange of the valuable point acquired by the client to a communication point to be utilized for the online service to a central unit 10 for managing the communication point (S202). In the central unit 10, valuable point request information based on the received exchange instruction information is transmitted to a portable terminal 30 for managing the valuable point (S204). In the portable terminal 30, the valuable point corresponding to the received valuable point request information is transmitted to the central unit 10 (S206). In the central unit 10, the received valuable point is exchanged to the communication point at a prescribed exchange rate (S209).
