PURPOSE: A method and system is provided to allow a user to enjoy virtual reality in which face of the character in the video program for broadcast or movie is replaced with the user's face. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises the first step of receiving personal information from a client and registering received personal information; the second step of providing the client with a video program list enumerating matchable characters if there is a request from the client for face image conversion; the third step of allowing the client to select a desired character when one video program is selected by the client from the video program list; the fourth step of outputting a command for controlling operation of picking up a variety of images of the client when the user selects desired character; and the fifth step of matching one or more images of the client with the video program selected by the client in the third step. A system comprises a client PC(100) including a PC camera(110), and which is provided with a face image converting service; and a character matching server(200) including a client database(210), video program list database(220), an image matching unit(230), an image storing unit(240) and a web server(250).
