The objective of the invention is a mobile station (30) that is used in a communication system. According to the invention the mobile station comprises first input means and first display means (23), which are used in the first functional mode, and second input means (31, 32) and second display means (33) that are used in a second functional mode. The mobile station has additionally a first part (201) and a second part (202), which can be moved relative to each other. The first input means and display means (23) and the second input means (31, 32) and display means (33) are situated in the first part (201) and the second part (202) in the following way: In the first functional mode the user surface of the mobile station comprises the first input means and the first display means (23) and in the second functional mode the user surface of the mobile station comprises the second input means (31, 32) and the second dislay means (33). With the solution according to the invention there is an optimized user interface available for both speech transfer connections and text/data transfer connections.
