The method involves separating the keg (20) in given separation planes (x,y) with mechanical or thermal cutting into top (1), middle (2) and bottom (3) parts. The middle part is separated or scrapped. The top and bottom parts are cut to a given end dimension for a given volume and are clamped in a calibration unit to fit them together exactly. The parts are then butt welded. The parts may be stapled in several places before butt welding.
