The method involves introducing windows into the insulating coating of prefabricated, fully insulated flat conductor cables (1) of any length. A device is inserted into and fixed in the cable so each conductor can be positively associated with a cutting tool (5) applied from above and/or below to cut into then peel away the insulating layer to produce defined length windows (7) with exact cut contours, then the resulting shaving (10) is removed. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for implementing the method.
