摘要 Simultaneous sedimentation and denitrification of waste water is achieved by approximately equal amounts of the water being distributed to all parts of the activation tank. Sedimentation and denitrification of waste water by the activated sludge method is effected using apparatus with an optionally partitioned Bio-P tank (1) together with an aeration unit, denitrification unit, separator wall, flow distributor, clear water outlet, activated sludge remover and optionally a clear water tank. Approximately equal volumes of waste water/sludge mixtures flow from a inlet distributor (3) in or near an opening (13) near the separation wall (14) and/or tank base (15) into the aeration sector (5) and denitrification sector (4). Aeration is effected for up to 90 minutes and sedimentation and denitrification take place simultaneously in sector (4) and after 30 minutes clear water goes through water outlet (6) with simultaneous addition of at least 65 volume % waste water and up to 35 volume % sludge water from the aeration sector (5) into sedimentation sector (4) such that there is a damming of the water level in sectors (4) and (5). An Independent claim is also included for apparatus which comprising a wall (14) separating the tank into aeration (5) and denitrifying sedimentation (4) sectors, there being a flow opening (13) between the wall (14) and the tank base (15) and there also being a flow distributor (3) in or near opening (13).
