PURPOSE: A plasma display panel is provided to reduce power consumption by reducing the area of sustaining electrode, luminance of screen edge and amount of current required for discharge of sustaining electrode. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel includes a discharge gas containing space formed by sealing the circumferences of first and second substrates which are arranged to be parallel with each other; a gas discharge sustaining electrode(4) arranged at the inner surface of at least one of first and second substrates; and a fluorescent layer excited by the ultraviolet light generated from the gas discharge. The sustaining electrode has a width gradually decreasing at both sides of the sustaining electrode from the point corresponding to the screen edge. Thus, the sustaining electrode has decreased area and the amount of current required for discharge operation is reduced, resulting in reduction of power consumption. Alternatively, the sustaining electrode has perforations formed at both sides of the sustaining electrode corresponding to the screen edge, to thereby allow the sustaining electrode to have a decreased area. |
