IMIDAZOLE CARBENES

摘要

A process for the preparation of imidazolium carbenes of formula (I) wherein R1 and R2 which can be the same or different, are hydrogen or linear or branched hydrocarbyl groups comprising heating an imidazolium halide with a strong base under reduced pressure and separating the resultant products is described. Also described is a process for the preparation of salts of these imidazolium carbenes, and their use as ionic liquids.
