The lock has a locking element and a control element (35) operated by a drive, for axial movement of an operating element (10) cooperating with the locking element, or the locking element itself, positioned coaxial to the control element. A pin (41) fits in a transverse bore of the operating element or the locking element, with its projecting ends (65,66) cooperating with helical grooves (43,44) provided on the inside of the control element, for providing the axial displacement of the operating element or the locking element dependent on the rotation of the control element in one or other direction.
