The appliance has two disposable cylinders (2,2<1>) containing hydrogen and oxygen. A balloon (32), normally deflated, can be supplied with these gases through pressure reducing valves (3,3<1>) and the mixture ignited by a suitable catalyst or electrical spark to explode the balloon and generate a pressure wave. The operation is controlled by a computer (6), timer (5) and control circuit (37). Provision is made for either manual or remote operation
