<p>An information system for a railway, comprising a plurality of trains using a network of tracks having track-side transponder units, each train having a radio transceiver for communicating with said transponder units and other trains, characterised in that each train is provided with a computer for running a self-constructing updateable relational database program which provides a record of which transponders are passed in what order, and signalling means for signalling to the driver and/or other trains when deviations from the known or expected order are detected. The system can generate a virtual map of the network of transponders without human input, and can provide a warning if transponders are moved or unexpected train movements occur.</p> |
