<p>This invention relates to an apparatus (1) for processing items. The apparatus (1) includes a separator means (2) which supplies a measuring means (3). The items are provided to the separator means (2) via a funnelling element (4) which supplies the items in a single file to a queuing means (8). The queuing means (5) supplies the items at a constant rate to a spacing and orienting conveyor (6) which supplies the items to the measuring means (3) in a spaced and oriented manner. The measuring means (3) includes a length measuring means (7) and a weight measuring means (9). The apparatus is intended for use in determining whether the item satisfies a predetermined standard, and is particularly suitable for use in the oyster grading industry.</p> |
