PURPOSE: A system and method for inquiring a dormant account is provided to enable a user to search one's dormant accounts opened in financial institutions collectively through a client computer. CONSTITUTION: A client(11) requests information respect to a dormant account. A dormant account information providing server(13) obtains dormant account information corresponding to the request of the client, and provides the obtained dormant account information to the client(11). A network(12) connects the client(11) to the dormant account information providing server(13). A dormant account search engine(14) searches a dormant account corresponding to the request of the client using not only a general bank dormant account information database(15), an insurance company dormant account information database(16), and a security corporation dormant account information database(17) but also dormant account information being stored in the dormant account information databases(15,16,17). Also, the dormant account search engine(14) transmits the search result to the dormant account information providing server(13).
