The imbalance detection device uses a pressure sensor (30) which is mechanically coupled to the washing liquid container in which the washing machine drum is supported for rotation via a drive motor, with evaluation of the dynamic signal component of the pressure sensor signal. The pressure sensor has a membrane (34) supported within a rigid housing (39), with expansion measuring strips (37) for detecting the membrane deflection and an oscillation mass (32) positioned adjacent the expansion measuring strips.
