The vehicle lock has an adjustable lock casing (2) and a latch casing (1) that fits in the lock casing. The latch casing has a latch bolt (3) that is anchored against a lock shackle (4) in the lock casing. The lock casing has a cavity with side walls (11) to hold the latch casing. The latch casing tapers like a trapezoid in the direction of the lock casing in the pivot plane of the latch bolt. The trapezoid edges of the latch casing are guided by coarse and fine guide devices against spring-loaded lock wedges (7), where the spring bias acts against the lock direction. The coarse guide devices comprise a bore (8) inside a lock wedge and a rigid guide rod (9) in the lock casing that fits in the bore, where there is a guide play between the bore and the guide rod. The fine guide devices comprise a plane inner guide face of a side wall of the lock casing and a matching plane guide surface on the lock wedge.
