Water soluble black stilbene dyes, their preparation and use

Copper (Cu) complex 4,4'-bis(4-(2-hydroxy-sulfophenylazo)-3-hydroxyphenyl-azo- or -azoxy)-stilbene-2,2'-disulfonic salts (I) with lithium (Li) and/or hydroxy(alkoxy)alkyl-ammonium cations are new. Copper (Cu) complex 4,4'-bis(4-(2-hydroxy-sulfophenylazo)-3-hydroxyphenyl-azo- or -azoxy)-stilbene-2,2'-disulfonic salts with lithium (Li) and/or hydroxy(alkoxy)alkyl-ammonium cations of formula (I) are new. Q = a group of formula (II); M<+> = a cation or mixture of different cations such that, in each mole of (I),≥1 equivalent of M<+> is lithium (Li) and/or hydroxy(alkoxy)alkyl-ammonium cations (III).
