The CPU (100) of the lens drive unit (16) obtains new data to be stored in an EEPROM (102) from a personal computer (104). The CPU (100) confirms with a supplied voltage confirmation circuit (110) that voltage supplied from a power source (108) to the lens drive unit (16) is sufficient to reprogram the contents of the EEPROM (102). When the voltage of the power source (108) is sufficient, a reprogramming voltage is applied from a reprogramming voltage applying device (112) to the EEPROM (102), and the contents of the EEPROM (102) are reprogrammed with the new data obtained from the personal computer (104). If the voltage of the power source (108) is insufficient, the reprogramming of the contents of the EEPROM (102) is not performed.
