924,271. Haymaking machines. PATENT CONCERN N.V. May 4, 1959 [May 27, 1958], No. 15257/59. Class 6(3). A haymaking machine comprises driven, rotating, tined raking members 20, 21 each lying in a plane perpendicular to a vertical plane parallel to the direction of motion and each inclined rearwardly and upwardly to the horizontal at 30 degrees-60 degrees. In Fig. 1 the frame 2 is supported on two rear castors 4, 5 and includes an arched member 3 which terminates in a front castor 6 and a pivoted drawbar 33. The raking members are carried on a beam 10 floatingly, pivoted to the frame 2 about an oblique horizontal axis 15 and adjustable by a screwed spindle with a cranked handle 45A. The raking members, which have downwardly-cranked tines 35 extending approximately vertically in their lowermost position, are driven by chains 25, 26 from a gearbox having three input-shafts 28, 29, 30 connectible to the power take-off of a tractor (not shown). When the input 28 is used, the raking members rotate in the direction 31, for side-delivery, but when either of the inputs 29, 30 is employed rotation is in the direction 32, the input 30 corresponding to a higher rotational speed. In modifications, the raking members can comprise toothed dished discs, the frame 2 can be coupled directly to a tractor and the ground wheels can be vertically adjustable, in addition to being lockable against swivelling. Arcuate guards 38, 39 prevent hay from reaching the upper surfaces of the members 20, 21. Specifications 924,272, 924,273, 924,274 and 924,275 are referred to. |
