CORE FOR CASTING AND ITS FACING MATERIAL, AND METHOD FOR COATING THIS CORE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the protection power of a core against molten iron. SOLUTION: The surface of the sand core is coated with a three-layer structure composed of an undercoating agent containing TiO2 applied as the lowermost layer, an ceramic base coating agent consisting essentially of SiO2 and MgO applied as the second layer and a flake-shaped graphite coating agent applied as the third layer. The undercoating agent is composed of 30g of TiO2, 5 cc of alumina sol and 50 cc of alcohol.
