PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preferentially cleaving one of at least two aliphatically unsaturated bonds differing from each other in reactivity, a method for producing a polymer by using the method for cleavage as an elementary reaction, and a polymer produced thereby. SOLUTION: Provided is a method for preferentially cleaving one of at least two aliphatically unsaturated bonds present in the same molecule and different from each other in reactivity.
