PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a once-collapsed container from being restored by the restoring force of a resin of the container and swollen when an empty resin container is collapsed, and to prevent a lid of the empty container fixed in the vertical direction from being hard and collapsed incompletely when an empty metal container is collapsed. SOLUTION: In a container collapsing machine in which a loading base 13 of a container A is arranged inside a case 1, a pressing body 2 collapsing the container A is arranged in an advancing/retracting manner to/from the loading base 13, and a hole 22 from which the container is thrown into the loading base 13, a projecting plate 4 or a recessed plate 5 extending in the longitudinal direction is arranged above the pressing body 2 or at least one of members at the positions facing the pressing body 2, and a projecting plate 6 or recessed plates 9, 12 extending in the transverse direction are arranged below the projecting plate 4 or the recessed plate 5.
