PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-shrinkable polyester film which has excellent shrink characteristics in a wide temperature range of from high temperatures to low temperatures, particularly in a low temperature range and extremely reduces generation of a shrinkage spot, a crease, a distortion, and a vertical sink mark, and further is suitable in the use of labels having excellent breakage resistance as well. SOLUTION: The heat-shrinkable polyester film is composed of a polyester, and has a tanδvalue of the dynamic viscoelasticity at 60 deg. to the major shrinkage direction of >=0.05, a temperature, at which the tanδvalue reaches a maximum, of 65-80 deg.C and its tanδmaximum value of >=0.40, and a heat shrinkage in the major shrinkage direction after the treatment in hot water at 80 deg.C for 10 seconds of >=30%.
