PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease noise and improve a recording accuracy. SOLUTION: A recording head 18 having recording wires 35 of an odd number wire array 36L and an even number wire array 36R arranged slantwise is loaded to a carriage 19. The recording wires of the arrays can be sequentially driven with a delay. Images are recorded to a sheet transferred between the recording head and a platen by the action of the recording wires in this recording apparatus. When reaching a recording position where recording wires of the preceding wire array operate to record, recording wires of the succeeding wire array operate with an operation timing agreeing with an actual operation timing of the recording wires of the preceding wire array operating almost concurrently at the time point.
