PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transfer device having a placing table capable of making elliptical motions while the constitution consists only of mechanical elements. SOLUTION: This article transfer device is structured so that a work W placed on a placing table 9 installed on a base 2 is transported by the elliptical motions synthesized from the vertical motions and fore-and-aft motions of the table 9 of the table 9, wherein the arrangement includes a cam shaft 4 rotating round the axis being driven by a motor 10 installed on the base 2, a first eccentric cam 51 rotating in association with the cam shaft 4 in the eccentric condition, and a piston arm 6 whose base end is fitted on the first eccentric cam 51 in slide contacting and forefront is supported by a leaf spring 7 installed on the base 2 in such a way as movable fore and aft, and the piston arm 6 is furnished with a coupling shaft 96 extending horizontally in the direction perpendicularly intersecting the arm, and the table 9 is coupled with the arm 6 in such a way as rotatable round the coupling shaft 96.
